Comments: It has been a long time since I visited this site. I was in the 147th Hillclimbers from October 68/69. Don Bagley gave the nickname of "Peanuts" because I ate sunflower seeds and others refereed to me as "The Kid" or just "Kid". I was in the flight platoon and served as a crew chief / flight engineer on Chinooks 66-19090 and 68-15815. I crewed with Danny Ison, FE, and Frank Chiefa, gunner. We were all on board 66-19090 when it crashed on 27 February 1969, along with pilots CWO's Larry Walker and Van Peterson.

My wife Kathy and I attended the first reunion in 2000. My wife and I arrived at the 2001 reunion just in time for the dinner on the last night of the reunion. Just before the 2001 reunion I found an old high school friend on the internet. He was living on the East Coast and he was retired from the Navy. His wife, on the other hand, was being transferred to Washington State, to a site about an hour from my house, to take command of the Undersea Warfare Base. I elected to delay our flight to the 2001 reunion to attend the change of command ceremony. That and being bumped from a flight put us at the reunion just in time to check into the hotel and change clothes for dinner. Hopefully my wife and I will have better luck this year. Today, 2/27/02, I listed us on flights, rented a car, and reserved our room for the 2002 reunion. We will be leaving on May 14 and hopefully we will arrive on or before May 16 and in time for the 2002 reunion.

Comments: Still looking for those who knew or served with my

father Captain John S. Seeley. He was the first pilot of the 178th "Boxcars" killed in Vietnam. He

had been friends with John Eddy and George Clarke

of the 147th Hillclimbers and wrote home of their

deaths not long before his own. If you knew my Dad

or have remembrances of John Eddy or George Clarke

to share it would be deeply appreciated.

Comments: Gary McDermott, hope this gets to you, I am new to the computer. Need your help with a problem I have been having. In '69 I was in Vietnam,Oct'68 through Nov.69, with the hillclimbers stationed in Vung-Tau 147 ash. I need your help confirming what happened to Robert Hodges. Since the incident occurred I have been haunted by what I saw, I was on the runway that night, and in and out OF V.A. hospitals reliving what happened. Until I found the web sight I could not find anyone that remembered that night, and could confirm what happened. I had his name wrong, for some reason I kept saying his name was Higgins, not Hodges, too many years and bad memories, I guess. If you can help me, I would appreciate it. contact me through my e-mail larrydryden@hotmail.com or call collect 573-406-0603.thank you and welcome home brother.
